I thought it was April showers bring May flowers....not snow, but snow we had yesterday. The moisture was welcome indeed as there was a wildfire burning out of control on post and not too far from our housing area. Whew.
We made a quick trip down to TX last week. My uncle lost his battle with lung cancer. We are sad that he is gone but so thankful that he is not suffering any longer. We also got to welcome the newest member of the family, my cousin and his wife had their 1st baby just 2 days after his father's funeral. Little RJ is so precious. Here I am with baby RJ.
I have been knitting a bit at work, but it's slow going. Here's my progress on a baby blanket. I 'm using Baby Bee from Hobby Lobby. It's so soft.
It's not the greatest picture but I'm just over half way done. I'm going corner to corner so now I'm on the decrease side.
I plan on getting my act together and start blogging more frequently. My hours will be changing in a couple of weeks. I work 4 10's right now and I'm just beat by the time I get home and getting home at 8 doesn't leave me much time for anything in the evening. I'll be working M-F from 6:45 to 3:15 starting May 5. That first week will probably be rough but after that, I'll be good to go. I'm so excited to be home and able to fix dinner and eat at a decent time. I've used the slow cooker a lot lately but we're getting burned out on that. Mine seems to cook too hot and I don't know if it's the altitude messing it up or what, even having it switch to "keep warm" after 4 hours on low doesn't seem to help.
I'm working on a menu for the next week. I love my Mastercook software. I'm trying to get most of my often used recipes in it so I can utilize the menu planner and shopping list features. I can spend hours visiting food blogs and recipe sites importing new recipes. Now I just need to start making some of them. : ) I have quite a lot of meat in the freezer so my goal is to cook from the freezer this week and only buy milk and a few fresh things that I might need. We'll see how I do.
